Hello and welcome to my corner of the web!

I'm Matthew Harris, a rising Junior in Computer Science at Tennessee State University, and I'm thrilled to share a bit about myself with you. I grew up in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, and my journey in technology and beyond has been an exciting one.

I am a software engineering professional with a strong background in AI development, web development, and research. At Headstarter AI, I build AI applications using Next.JS, OpenAI, PineCone, and StripeAPI. I lead a team of four engineering fellows and receive mentorship from top engineers on Agile and CI/CD practices.

At Lowe's Companies, Inc., I contributed to the Launchpad professional development platform, served as Scrum Master, and developed web software and tested it with Cypress.

As a Research Assistant at Tennessee State University, I contributed to machine learning research focused on enhancing electronic health records by managing data using the All of Us Workbench database.

During my internship at Fermilab and Brookhaven National Laboratory, I applied AI techniques to particle physics data, learned quantum computing with IBM's Qiskit, and participated in quantum physics workshops.

I have also developed data-driven solutions and user-friendly websites in hackathons like the JPMorgan Chase & Co. Data for Good Hackathon and the Bank Of America Code-A-Thon. My certifications include Stanford University's courses in Data Science and the AT&T Technology Academy. I am proficient in JavaScript, Java, HTML, and have experience with React, TypeScript, Microsoft Office, Jira, and Git.

About

I am a role model and proud brother to six siblings, deeply committed to my community, my professional growth, and mentorship. I actively participate in Collegiate 100 Black Men of America at Tennessee State University as the Education Committee Chair. I'm also involved in the National Society of Black Engineers, Color Stack, and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), where I hold an executive board position.

Through the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), I've enhanced my professionalism and soft skills with immersive experiences at Boeing, Medtronic, and in Virginia. These opportunities have enriched my leadership abilities and broadened my perspective.

My favorite quote is by Seneca, the renowned Stoic philosopher: "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity."
